Sunbirds Down Chaminade on Chilly Night at Ramirez Field

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific women's soccer team picked up a PacWest Conference victory on Wednesday night, defeating Chaminade 3-1 at home.
 
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Defense prevailed for the first 45 minutes, as each of FPU's ten shot attempts were turned away.
• The Sunbirds broke through with a goal less than two minutes into the half, allowing the home team to settle into a rhythm.
• FPU maintained their aggressive attack, scoring two more goals before the Silverswords got on the board with six minutes to play.    
 
SCORING: 
• (46:41) Ariana Avila and Anissia Gonzalez each meade quick passes, allowing Kylie Campama to fire to the lower right corner for her first career score.   
• (52:24) Rachel Anderson fed Mackenzie Reynolds in the box, and Reynolds shook her defender and connected to push the lead to 2-0.
• (72:20) Alyssa Kincade crossed into the box to find Whitney Snow, and Snow answered with a header to the upper shelf.
• (83:45) Randi Fontes slotted just under the crossbar after Chaminade's third consecutive corner kick.  
 
STATS FROM THE GAME:
• FPU outshot their guests 21-4, including a mark of 8-2 in shots on frame. 
• Silversword goalkeeper Brandee Lane tallied five saves between the posts, while FPU's Alex Benevidez needed just one to pick up her fifth victory of the year.  
• The 'Swords took four of the game's six corner kicks. 
 
BEYOND THE BOX:
• Three different Sunbirds found the net for the third time this year, and the Blue and Orange have now won three of their last four matches.
