FPU Visits Azusa Pacific, Biola in League Action

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific women's soccer team will hit the road for two PacWest Conference games this week, taking on Azusa Pacific on Thursday night before visiting Biola on Saturday.

About the Sunbirds (3-8-1, 3-2-0 PacWest)
Fresno Pacific is coming off a 3-1 victory over Notre Dame de Namur on Saturday night, when three different Sunbirds found the back of the net. Keeper Alex Benevidez racked up a career-high seven saves, and she has been between the posts for all of FPU's wins so far this season.

About the Cougars (3-7-1, 3-1-1 PacWest)
APU picked up back-to-back 2-0 conference wins last week, knocking off Dominican and Holy Names in Azusa. Four different Cougars found the back of the net in their best two-game performance under first year head coach Brooke Lincoln, while keeper Tatum French needed just two saves to record consecutive clean sheets.

FPU defeated Azusa Pacific for the first time last season in Fresno, improving to 1-17-0 in the all-time series. Whitney Snow's game-winner lifted the 'Birds past the Cougars on Senior Night to extend Fresno Pacific's winning streak to five games. FPU and APU ended the season tied for second in the PacWest Conference standings. 
 
Biola 
About the Eagles (6-3-0, 4-0-1 PacWest)
After tying Hawai'i Pacific 1-1 on Thursday evening, the Eagles came away with a 2-1 overtime victory against Chaminade on Saturday.  Madi deMetropolis was named the PacWest Player of the Week on Monday after assisting Thursday's game-tying goal and delivering Saturday's game-winner in the 98th minute.
