Overtime Goal Sinks Sunbirds at Home

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific women's soccer team was tripped up on Thursday night, falling 1-0 to Cal State Dominguez Hills in the second overtime period.
 
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Defense had the upper hand for most of the night, but the Sunbirds got their best scoring opportunity in the games' 86th minute. Anissia Gonzalez hit the crossbar, however, and the 'Birds and Toros headed for overtime. 
• CSUDH broke through with less than three minutes remaining in the second overtime period, finding the net for their second win.
 
SCORING: 
• (107:15) Kylee Patterson chipped the ball into the box, paving the way for Sofia Litendahl to find the back of the net for the game-winner. 
 
STATS FROM THE GAME:
• Fresno Pacific outshot their hosts 23-6, including a slight 8-6 mark in shots on target.   
• Alex Benevidez gave the Sunbirds five saves between the posts, while Ruth-Maria Soto and Alyssa Newsom combined to give the Toros eight saves. 
• The Toros took five of the game's nine corner kicks.   
 
BEYOND THE BOX:
• Benevidez matched her career-high in saves, previously set against Academy of Art on Sept. 17. 
• The loss drops FPU to 0-2-1 in overtime games this year, and the Sunbirds have now lost 13 consecutive games against non-league opponents.
