FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific women's soccer team came away with a PacWest Conference victory on Saturday night, defeating Notre Dame de Namur 3-1 at Ramirez Field.
 
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• FPU came out firing, finding the back of the net twice in the game's first six minutes. 
• Notre Dame de Namur got one back before the half, cutting the deficit to one heading to the intermission.
• The Sunbirds got an insurance goal in the 84th minute to push the lead to 3-1 and were able to keep the Argos from creating another strong opportunity.
 
SCORING: 
• (4:30) Mackenzie Reynolds connected with Jessica Dondlinger, who dribbled into the box and beat her defender before slotting the ball just underneath the crossbar for her first score of the year.
• (5:33) Dondlinger returned the favor 63 seconds later, allowing Reynolds to shake her defender and beat the NDNU keeper in a one-on-one situation.
• (32:18) A pair of quick assists paved the way for Alexis Prieto to find the back of the net for the first time this season. 
• (83:36) After an attempted clearance, Anissia Gonzalez stole the ball and dished to Whitney Snow, who gave the Sunbirds all the security they would need to hang on for the victory.
 
STATS FROM THE GAME:
• Fresno Pacific outshot their hosts 24-13, including a mark of 12-8 in shots on frame.     
• Alex Benevidez racked up a season-high seven saves en route to her third win of the season between the posts, while NDNU's Alexis Aguilar tallied nine saves of her own.
• The Sunbirds took seven of the game's 11 corner kicks.
 
BEYOND THE BOX:
• Over their last three games, the Sunbirds have outscored opponents 8-2.
