QUOTABLE:
"We are a very young team and we're still learning how to play together. It is disappointing to come here and drop both games, but we learned a lot from this and will be better as we move forward." – head coach Rob Podeyn

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Fresno Pacific never found a rhythm in the first half, as the Jacks outshot their guests 7-4 and forced the Sunbirds to commit eight fouls.
• The first score of the game came in the 31st minute, and HSU added an insurance goal late in the second half after a breakdown in FPU's back line.

SCORING:
• (30:32) Humboldt State found the back of the net in the 31st minute, when Alex Jenkins corralled a rebound and fired into the far right corner.
• (89:23) Jenkins struck again with 37 seconds left in the game, dribbling the ball in to the left of FPU keeper Summer Hammond.

STATS OF THE GAME:
• Fresno Pacific was outshot 11-10 for the game, but the Sunbirds took more shots on frame (9-7).
• Hammond recorded five saves, marking her fourth consecutive game with at least that many.
• The lone Sunbird corner kick came with under five minutes remaining, while their hosts took three on the afternoon.

BEYOND THE BOX:
• Jenkins joins Sabine Postma and Myriah Epino as Jacks with goals through two games. She is now halfway to her 2016 total, and Saturday was the first multi-score game of her career.
• The Sunbirds begin the year 0-2 for the first time since 2014. FPU has now lost two games against CCAA opponents for the fifth straight season.

UP NEXT:
• The Sunbirds return to action on Thursday, when they will play in front of their home crowd for the first time this season. Opening whistle against Cal State East Bay is scheduled for 5 p.m.
