QUOTABLE:
• "We ran into a Stanislaus team that's playing really well right now, and they physically manhandled us. We turned it over too much, and got killed in the free-throw discrepancy. We had a stretch where we lost our composure in the second half, and it really snowballed on us where we took some bad shots and struggled to clamp down on defense, and by the time we regained our composure we couldn't overcome it." – head coach C.J. Haydock

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• After a slow start had FPU trailing 25-18, the Sunbirds finally found some rhythm following an and-one from Sam Holmes.
• FPU then ran off a 26-12 run, which was highlighted by 11 points from Jake Straughan that included a deep three that beat the halftime buzzer. The 'Birds cruised into the locker room up 44-37 after collecting on 60 percent of their shots.
• The Sunbirds eventually earned their largest lead of 10 points, 60-50, in the second half after a jumper from Adrian Antunez with 13:59 to play. It was all Stanislaus State the rest of the way, however, as the Warriors closed the game on a 33-9 run.

STATS OF THE GAME:
• Straughan led the Sunbirds with a career high 25 points, which included six threes. Antunez also collected a career high in points with 18 (6-of-10 FPG), while also dishing out five assists and grabbing three steals.
• Sam Burt pulled down a game high 13 rebounds to go along with nine points and a block for FPU.
• FPU committed 22 turnovers, which turned into 30 points for the Warriors.
• Stanislaus State benefited from 38 free-throw attempts, making 27, while FPU was only awarded 15 attempts from the charity stripe.
• Vida Faniel led Stan St. with 22 points.

BEYOND THE BOX:
• Burt has now grabbed 10 or more rebounds in three games for FPU.
• Straughan's six made threes marks a season best for the junior. He is shooting 44 percent from deep to start the year.
• Antunez had dished out five or more assists in three games.

UP NEXT:
• FPU is off the rest of Thanksgiving week and is back in action on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at Cal Maritime. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m. in Vallejo.
