LA MIRADA, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific volleyball team renewed its rivalry with Biola on Friday after a six-year hiatus. The Sunbirds battled tough, but Biola earned a 3-1 win (22-25, 25-18, 25-20, 27-25) in PacWest action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Sunbirds opened the game with a win in the opening set. FPU used a 6-0 run in the middle of the frame to jump ahead 19-12 and take control of the set.
• Biola stormed back the next three sets, however, to earn the win. With FPU facing match point with the score 24-23, a thrilling rally that lasted longer than a minute occurred before
Christina Tran finally put down a kill to force extra time. BU went on a few plays later to win three straight points to earn the match victory.
STATS OF THE GAME:

Tiff Wong led the Sunbirds with 14 kills and 13 digs, while
Malerie Crenshaw and
Caroline Bodziak added 13 kills apiece. Crenshaw also totaled three blocks.
•
Greta Dobenecker dished out a game-high 51 assists and totaled 15 digs for FPU.
Gabriela Macedo headed the defense at the libero position and totaled 21 digs.
• Karly Dantuma put down a game-high 18 kills for Biola.

BEYOND THE BOX:
• Dobenecker amassed a career best number in assists, while adding her 14th double-double of the year.
• Crenshaw has now totaled double-digit kills in four straight matches and has 12 such games on the year.
• Macedo's 21 digs set a career high for the senior.
