Aggressive Sunbirds Blank Biola 2-0

FRESNO, Calif.  – The Fresno Pacific women's soccer picked up a key PacWest Conference victory on Saturday, defeating Biola 2-0 at Ramirez Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Fresno Pacific remained attack-minded on Saturday, taking their second-highest shot total of the season.
• The Sunbirds got a goal in the game's 12th minute to carry a 1-0 lead into the intermission.
• An insurance score came 16 minutes into the second half, allowing the Blue and Orange to sit on a lead for the duration of the contest.   

SCORING:
• (11:13) Jordyn Ryfiak picked up her first score as a Sunbird with a shot to the lower left corner after the Eagle keeper left the net.
• (61:11) Anissia Gonzalez found Stacia Williams on a corner kick, and Williams answered with a header for her first career goal.  

STATS OF THE GAME:
• FPU outshot their guests 25-8, including a 10-3 mark in shots on frame.
• Biola's Christina Rodriguez picked up seven saves between the posts, while FPU goalkeeper Summer Hammond needed just three to record the shutout.
• Corner kicks were a huge part of the Sunbird offense on Saturday, as Fresno Pacific took eight of the night's 11 set pieces.    
 
BEYOND THE BOX:
• With her seventh career clean sheet, Hammond has now tied Audrey Hadden (2002-04) and Christina Michaelis (2008-11) for third on the program's all-time list.
• Five freshmen (Williams, Gonzalez, Cori Wing, Ariana Avila, Alexis Macias) started for FPU, while another five came off the bench.
• With Ryfiak and Williams joining the scoring club, ten different Sunbirds have found the net this season.
 
UP NEXT:
• The Sunbirds have a quick turnaround, as they return to action on Monday with a visit to Holy Names. Opening whistle in Hayward is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
