FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific men's soccer team picked up a PacWest Conference victory on Monday night, defeating Hawai'i Hilo 3-2 on the road.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Sunbirds got two goals early, but the Vulcans were able to tie the score before the first half ended.
• FPU's 80th minute score gave them a 3-2 lead and allowed the Blue and Orange to sit on a lead for the duration of the match.

Anthony Velarde and Bruno Brumati were each credited with an assist when
Sergio Segura launched a booming kick from 40 yards out into the back of the net.
• (16:40) Velarde added a score of his own after an assist from Fellipe Souza allowed him to fire to the far left corner.
• (27:31) Jonathan Garcia connected with Bryan Reynoso, whose soft shot put the Vulcans on the board for the first time.
• (37:58) Evan Bacani beat his defender before winning a one-on-one with the keeper to record the equalizer.
• (79:01) With just under 11 minutes to spare,
Gabriel Batista broke the tie with a shot to the right post.
STATS OF THE GAME:
• Fresno Pacific outshot their hosts 17-13, including a mark of 13-5 on frame.
• The Sunbirds earned five of the eight corner kicks for the night.
• Cassidy Dixon picked up 10 saves between the pipes for the Vulcans, while FPU's Santiago Covarrubias earned the win after tallying three saves.

Anthony Velarde became the second Sunbird in as many seasons to record at least ten goals and ten assists in a season. He is currently the only player in the PacWest with ten in each category, and his 13 assists lead the league.
• Velarde's 33 points are the most for any Sunbird since the 2013 campaign that saw FPU post a 16-5-2 record.
