FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno Pacific outslugged UC Santa Cruz on Tuesday night in non-conference action for its first sweep of the season. Set scores were 25-19, 25-11 and 25-14 in favor of FPU.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Sunbirds set the tone early with a dominant set one victory.
Hannah Miller served the Sunbirds to a 7-0 lead as FPU never looked back to go ahead in the match 1-0.
• In the second frame, the 'Birds used a 10-1 run in the middle of the set to take control and cruise to the victory.
• FPU then held the Banana Slugs to .074 hitting in the third set to take the match in straight sets.

STATS OF THE GAME:
• The Sunbirds hit a season-high .344 on the evening and held the Banana Slugs to a clip of .060.
• FPU received 12 kills (.556) from
Kylei Dewar in the win, while
Madison Pierce totaled nine and
Malerie Crenshaw put down seven (.429).

Tiff Wong headed up the Sunbirds' defense with 13 digs and
Gabriela Macedo added 11.

Greta Dobenecker dished out 20 assists for FPU and
Christina Tran added 18.

• FPU picked up its first straight set victory of the season.
