Fresno Pacific was edged out by conference foe Hawaii Hilo 60-56 on Thursday night, falling to 3-17, 1-13 in PacWest play.
Hannah Ramirez scored 12 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to go with four assists and four steals for the Sunbirds.
Megan Lee led the team with 16 points off the bench.
Abrina Salas added 11 points and
Jasmine Shedrick pulled down 11 rebounds.
FPU cut the UHH lead to one after a Salas three-pointer with three minutes to go. The Sunbirds were unable to get a basket on their next few possessions however and the Vulcans sank their free-throws down the stretch.
Alexa Jacobs had 15 points to lead the Vulcans (6-12, 6-7 PacWest). UHH swept the season series with the win.
The Sunbirds participated in Play-4-Kay, an initiative that encourages coaches across the country to raise awareness and funds for women's cancer research. All proceeds benefited the Kay Yow Cancer Fund.The Sunbirds take on Concordia, who also stands at 1-13 in the PacWest, on Saturday at 2:30 pm.
