BELMONT, Calif. – Megan Lee scored a career-high 30 points to power Fresno Pacific over Notre Dame de Namur, 76-70, on Saturday in PacWest play.
FPU moves to 5-19 overall and 3-15 in league action with the win, while NDNU falls to 3-23 overall and 2-16 in the PacWest.
Lee drained 10-of-19 shots, including four threes, and grabbed seven rebounds for the Sunbirds.
Jasmine Shedrick added 13 points and four blocks,
Daeja Gilmer totaled 10 points and three steals, and
Abrina Salas added six points, four assists and four rebounds for FPU in the win.
With the Sunbirds leading 62-61 with 6:37 to play, Lee sparked an 8-2 run with four points to give FPU its largest lead of the game, 70-63, with just under four minutes to play. The Argos cut the lead to a pair with a minute left, but Lee iced the game with four consecutive free throws to seal the win. The Sunbirds trailed 37-34 at the half.
"We played great team basketball on both ends of the court today," said head coach
Lindsey Wilson. "We moved the ball well on offense and found the hot hand today in Megan. I'm very proud of our effort."
The Sunbirds finished 50 percent from the floor and forced 18 turnovers, which converted into 17 points. FPU committed a season-low 10 turnovers on the evening.
The Sunbirds continue PacWest play on Wednesday, Feb. 24 against Dixie State at home. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
