Fresno Pacific led for much of the game but Holy Names took control in the fourth quarter as FPU fell 64-54 in Wednesday's PacWest matchup.
The Sunbirds (4-18, 2-14 PacWest) led 35-25 at halftime and were out-shooting HNU 52% to 35%. The Hawks outscored FPU 13-7 in the third quarter however and would overtake the Sunbirds in the fourth, outscoring them 26-12. The game was tied at 44 with five minutes left but HNU scored five straight and would not relinquish the lead the rest of the way.
Megan Lee scored 11 points and had five assists to lead FPU while
Taylor Caspers and
Hannah Ramirez added 10 apiece. The trio combined for just two of those points in the second half however. The Sunbirds did shoot 84% from the free-throw line (16-of-19) but committed 20 turnovers in the loss.
Garysha Youngblood led the Hawks with a game-high 19 points as HNU improved to 8-17 overall, 7-10 in PacWest play.
The Sunbirds now travel to Dixie State for a PacWest matchup this Saturday in St. George, Utah.
