SAN FRANCISCO – Carley Bock totaled 11 kills and six blocks as Fresno Pacific defeated Academy of Art 3-1 on Thursday night in PacWest play. Set scores were 25-23, 25-20, 14-25 and 25-17 in favor of the Sunbirds at Kezar Pavilion.

FPU improves to 10-13 overall and 8-11 in league play with the win, while ART U falls to 7-21 overall and 5-14 in the PacWest. The win gave the Sunbirds a season sweep over the Urban Knights.

FPU used a balanced attack offensively on the evening, as Bock led the way with her second consecutive game with double-digit kills.
Montana Lowe added nine kills and five blocks,
Jasmine Phoolka totaled eight kills and
Hailey Hilvers added seven kills and four blocks.
Karah Mitchell led the defense with 14 digs, while
Chelsea Speaks added 13.
Bissie DenHartog dished out 37 assists.

After taking the opening set, FPU used a 7-2 run to close out set two and jump ahead 2-0 in the match. ART U battled back for a convincing 25-14 win in set three. The Sunbirds answered with their best set of the night, however, in set four and held the Urban Knights' attack to .029 to win 25-17. FPU used an 8-2 run in the middle of the fourth frame to take control, highlighted by two kills from Bock and blocks from Hilvers, Bock, Phoolka and Lowe.

"I thought we finished the match with much better energy than we started with," said head coach
Tracy Ainger-Schulte. "It was nice to win the first two sets, but I don't think we truly played to our potential until set four. I'm glad we finished on a high note for the night."

The Sunbirds totaled 9.0 team blocks on the night, their fifth highest total of the year. The presence at the net led to 65 team digs and a .121 attack percentage from the Urban Knights.

Safua Elisaia led ART U with 11 kills, while Melissa Brum totaled a game-high 16 digs.

FPU is back in action for its season finale on Saturday against Notre Dame de Namur at 3 p.m. on Senior Day.
