SAN RAFAEL, Calif. - Fresno Pacific snapped its four-game losing skid on Saturday, as the Sunbirds took down host Dominican in four sets at the Conlan Center. Set scores were 26-24, 18-25, 25-23 and 25-13.

FPU moves to 9-13 overall and 7-11 in league action, while DUC falls to 16-9 overall and 12-5 in the PacWest. Dominican dropped back-to-back matches for the first time since Sept. 24 with the result.

"It was a good team effort tonight," said head coach
Tracy Ainger-Schulte. "Our blocking and defense really made a difference in the match."

Karah Mitchell led the Sunbirds with 14 kills, while
Carley Bock added 12,
Hailey Hilvers totaled 10,
Montana Lowe put down nine and
Jasmine Phoolka added eight.
Bissie DenHartog dished out 44 assists and totaled 22 digs for a double-double.
Chelsea Speaks amassed 18 digs as the Sunbirds totaled 84 scoops as team, their third highest total of the year.

FPU totaled 10.0 blocks on the night, its fourth highest mark of the year. Hilvers led the way with seven, while Bock added five.

After each team won a set, the Sunbirds managed to take a tight third set to jump ahead in the match. FPU closed out the win with a dominant final frame, holding the Penguins to .000 hitting while countering at a clip of .250. The Sunbirds jumped out to a 9-2 lead in the fourth, highlighted by two service aces from Mitchell, before cruising to the match victory.

Aimee Steinwand led the Penguins with 11 kills and Amanda Lee added 20 digs.
