FPU Women Soar Past Eagles with 3-1 Road Victory

IRVINE, Calif. -  The Fresno Pacific University women's soccer team earned a pivotal PacWest Conference win on Saturday, defeating Concordia 3-1 in the final road game of the season. The victory improves the Sunbirds to 8-6-1 overall, including a 6-4-1 mark in league play.  

Bianka Garcia connected with Amber Rodriguez in the game's 16th minute, and Rodriguez fired a shot to the top right corner to give the Sunbirds their first score of the day. Rachel Anderson found the net for the fourth time this season in the 33rd minute to push the FPU lead to 2-0.

Isabe Angotti-Jones put the Eagles on the scoreboard four minutes before the half, taking advantage of a perfect feed from teammate Keely Abt. Senior Alyssa Nakaguchi added the lone score of the second half in the 72nd minute to tie Rodriguez for the team lead.

The Sunbirds are set to return to action on Thursday, when they host Hawai'i Hilo in PacWest Conference play. Opening whistle from Ramirez Field is set for 7:30 p.m.
