FRESNO, Calif. - Â The Fresno Pacific University women's soccer team was tripped up on Thursday night, falling 1-0 to Hawai'i-Hilo in PacWest Conference action. With the loss, the Sunbirds drop to 8-7-1, including a 6-5-1 mark in league action.
"To play the way we played today was disappointing. We were unorganized and didn't communicate," head coach
Rob Podeyn said. "Unfortunately, this is a strange game, and we just didn't play well."
UHH's Danika Steele provided the lone score of the night, finding the back of the net on an assist by Sophie Satterlee in the game's 37th minute. The goal was the first of the season for Steele, and she becomes the sixth Vulcan to score this fall. Â Â
The Blue and Orange outshot their guests 24-10, including a 9-7 mark on frame. The Sunbirds claimed a 6-2 edge in corners kicks, and FPU's
Summer Hammond recorded six of the game's 15 saves.Â
