RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Kyle Eoff's five goals powered Fresno Pacific to a win over Chapman 14-8 on Saturday evening, as the Sunbirds split action at the Lancer Invitational. FPU fell to Redlands in the morning game 11-8.

FPU moves to 4-7 overall on the season following the day split. The win over Chapman snapped a five-game skid for the Sunbirds.

FPU used a dominant first half to earn the win over Chapman, as the Sunbirds held an 8-1 lead at the break. FPU finished off the victory with a four-goal final period.

Eoff led all scorers with five goals, as the total marked a career high.
David Maes added a hat trick,
Garth Verdegaal scored twice and
Taylor Heckathorn,
Steven Kaufmann,
Erik Brown and
Kyle Madel rounded out the scoring with a goal apiece. Brown and
Garrett Pickford added two assists apiece.

The Sunbirds held Chapman to a 3-of-14 mark on man-up opportunities. Goalkeeper
Dillon Robinson led the defense with 13 saves.

In the earlier game, Redlands earned the win after scoring eight times in the middle quarters. FPU led 4-2 after the first period, but couldn't overcome the sluggish second and third frames to fall 11-8.

Eoff led the Sunbirds with five goals, while Heckathorn, Maes and Madel each found the back of the cage once. Maes and Brown dished out two assists apiece, while Robinson headed the defense with 10 saves in the cage.

FPU travels to Claremont next weekend to compete in the Gary Troyer Memorial Tourney with four games. The opener is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 7 at 12:45 p.m. against Whittier.
