Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Late Score Sinks Sunbirds against Dixie State

ST. GEORGE, Utah – The Fresno Pacific University men's soccer team stumbled on Saturday evening, falling 3-2 to Dixie State on the road. With the loss, the Sunbirds drop to 3-4-1 overall, including a 2-2 mark in PacWest Conference action.

"We were in the game every single minute, but we're just not making smart soccer decisions. We're playing with too much risk and not enough heart," head coach Jaime Ramirez. "We had a number of chances and good looks at the goal. We worked so hard to tie it up, and then we let it slip away. This one hurts."

The scoring started early for the Trailblazers, who found the net less than two minutes into the night with a goal from Gabby Medina. Three and a half minutes into the second half, Bryan Baugh connected on a header to put the home team in front by a tally of 2-0.

Fresno Pacific finally got on the scoreboard with a 58th-minute score from Jose Segura that came from 20 yards out and trimmed the DSU lead. Jorge Chedraui teamed up with Dylan Rusconi to find the equalizer with ten minutes to play, but Moises Medina struck four minutes later to help Dixie State remain unbeaten in PacWest contests.

The Sunbirds take a break from conference play on Wednesday, when they are set to host Sonoma State at Ramirez Field. Opening whistle is set for 7:00 p.m.
