Sunbirds battle with #11 Lancers on ESPN

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Fresno Pacific had the opportunity to play on national television in the NCAA D2 Game of the Week on ESPN3, falling to NCAA Division II #11-ranked Cal Baptist 93-53 on Saturday night.

Megan Lee led the Sunbirds with 11 points while Taylor Caspers, Kaysha Fox and Daeja Gilmer added eight points apiece. FPU hung tough in the early going but the Lancers would start to run away with it in the second quarter, closing out the half on a 22-8 run. FPU was out-shot 47% to 29% in the loss.

"The chance to play on ESPN was a great experience for our players and provides great exposure for our program," said head coach Lindsey Wilson. "CBU is an incredibly talented team, but I was proud of our overall effort tonight. We are headed in the right direction. We have to capitalize on our open shots, shoot with confidence and knock them down."

Cassidy Mihalko scored a season-high 30 points to lead the Lancers, who improved to 13-1, 5-1 in PacWest play. Kamille Diaz added 17 points and 11 assists in the win.

FPU fell to 2-11, 0-7 in PacWest play.

The Sunbirds now head to Hawaii for a three-game road trip, beginning next Thursday at BYU-Hawaii.
