AZUSA, Calif. - Fresno Pacific committed a season-high 37 turnovers as the Sunbirds fell 98-43 to nationally-ranked Azusa Pacific on Saturday.
Jasmine Shedrick had 12 points and eight rebounds to lead the Sunbirds while
Megan Lee added 10 points, but the turnovers proved to be too much to overcome against a talented Cougar squad ranked #23 in the nation.
Taylor Caspers added eight points and eight rebounds for the Sunbirds, who fell to 2-16, 0-12 in PacWest play.
The Sunbirds played well offensively in a high-scoring first quarter, but trailed 31-20. It was all Cougars from that point on as APU outscored FPU 20-6 in the second quarter, then held the Sunbirds to just 27% shooting in the second half.
Allison Greene scored 18 points to lead the Cougars, who improved to 17-3, 11-1 in the PacWest.
The Sunbirds have a lighter schedule on the horizon, with four consecutive home games against teams in the bottom half of the standings. FPU takes on Notre Dame de Namur (3-17, 2-10 PacWest) on Monday at 5:30 pm.
