Sunbirds swept at CBU to open first PacWest road trip

RIVERSIDE, Calif. - Fresno Pacific began its first PacWest road trip of the season by falling in straight sets at Cal Baptist on Friday night, dropping to 1-1 in conference play.

Montana Lowe led the Sunbirds (1-6) with nine kills and a .438 attack percentage. Sarah McCann added eight kills and 10 digs, while Gabriela Macedo and Morghan Williams had five kills apiece. Bissie DenHartog finished with 22 assists and nine digs.

Chelsea Speaks added a match-high three service aces. Macedo had a team-high four blocks with Lowe and Madison Pierce adding three.

The Lancers (9-2, 2-1 PacWest) got 14 kills apiece from Lauren Marr and Jenna Perry.

FPU was out-hit .266 to .120 in the loss, including .357 to .061 in the first set as the Lancers set the tone for the match. FPU led for the majority of the second set, including a 20-18 lead late before the Lancers finished it out on a 7-2 run.

The Sunbirds are back in action tomorrow at Azusa Pacific at 3 pm. APU defeated CBU 3-1 last week.
