Fresno Pacific snapped a five-match losing streak by taking down Dominican 3-1 in the home opener on Saturday. Gabriela Macedo recorded 20 kills and 17 digs, Bissie DenHartog dished out 54 assists and Sarah McCann had 12 kills and a team-high 25 digs as the Sunbirds cruised to victory 25-22, 25-12, 24-26, 25-20 in the PacWest opener for both teams.

After struggling with attack errors during the last road trip, the team committed just five errors in the first two sets, hitting .348 and .415 respectively to take a commanding 2-0 lead. After the Penguins rallied to take set three, FPU secured the victory by holding DUC to an .085 hitting percentage in the final set.

"We talked a lot this week in practice about the errors we made up in Washington and how if we don't take care of that it's going to be a long season," said head coach Matt Terra. "The players did a really nice job this week preparing, they listened to the game plan and executed really well."

Morghan Williams totaled 11 kills and five blocks for the Sunbirds in the victory. Montana Lowe finished with 10 kills (.526) and Hannah Butler added 20 digs. Macedo's 20 kills were a career high.

FPU is back in action this Tuesday, Sept. 22 with a the team's annual exhibition against Fresno State. The game is slated for a 7 p.m. start at the Save Mart Center.
