Matt Terra rejoined the Sunbirds' coaching staff in 2011 as an assistant under Kelly Winter. He previously served as an assistant on FPU's staff from 1999-2004, helping the Sunbirds win the 2003 national championship. In July 2015 he was named interim head coach of the program.
Terra has also been an assistant at Fresno State (2005-06), Chico State (1995), Reedley College (2009-10), Los Medanos College (1997-98) and Butte College (1993-94), and a head coach at Clayton Valley High School (1997-98) and Central High School (2008-09).
Originally from Concord, California, Terra graduated from Fresno State in 2003 with a degree in philosophy before going on to earn his master's in kinesiology from FPU.
Terra and his wife Lavinia have four children: Anthony, Payton, Skylar and Michael.
