ESCONDIDO, Calif. – Fresno Pacific fell on the road in non-conference action to St. Katherine 83-77 Saturday. The Sunbirds fell victim to a sluggish second half and surrendered 47 second-half points in the loss.
FPU falls to 7-15 overall following the setback, while SKC improves to 3-12 overall with its second win over the Sunbirds this season.
Bobby Barnes finished with a game-high 19 points for FPU. The junior added six rebounds. 
Madison Higgins contributed 15 points, six rebounds and four assists. 
Daveon Gibson and 
Jeff Amazan added 13 points apiece off the bench and 
Trevon Clayton finished with a game-high 12 rebounds.
The Sunbirds shot 50% from the floor, but struggled from long range at 23% (4-17).  FPU also out-rebounded SKC 39-31.
The difference in the game proved to be the turnover battle, won by St. Katherine 17-10. SKC scored 19 points off turnovers. The Firebirds also shot 43% (7-16) from three and 50% from the field.
Lasean Galbreath scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead five players in double figures for SKC.
The Firebirds opened the second half on a 31-13 run to earn its largest lead of 17 points with 7:36 remaining. The Sunbirds fought in the final seven minutes and cut the lead to four with 1:39 remaining, but wouldn't come any closer. FPU held a 37-36 lead at the intermission.
FPU is back in action next Wednesday at Academy of Art at 7:30 p.m.
