SAN DIEGO - FPU fell 77-65 at Point Loma on Friday night as the Sea Lions (13-9, 11-4 PacWest) salvaged a split of the season series with the Sunbirds (3-16, 3-11 PacWest).
Dakota McLarnan led FPU with 12 points,
Jenay Herring added nine to go with eight rebounds and four assists.
Jasmine Shedrick recorded six blocks for FPU.
The Sea Lions shot 50% from the field and got 20 points off the bench from Riley Abraham. Roya Rustamzada added 16 points and 11 rebounds. PLNU outscored FPU 44-22 in the paint and 29-8 in points off turnovers.
FPU trailed 25-10 early on before three consecutive three-pointers by McLarnan got the Sunbirds back into it. PLNU led 37-30 at halftime. The Sunbirds would cut it to 39-36 early in the second half after a three-pointer by
Megan Lee, but wouldn't get any closer as the Sea Lions responded with a 13-2 run.
The Sunbirds travel to San Francisco next Wednesday to take on Academy of Art at 5:30 pm.
