TURLOCK, Calif. - Fresno Pacific struggled offensively, shooting 26% from the floor in a 65-40 loss at Stanislaus State.
Kaysha Fox led the Sunbirds with nine points,
Daeja Gilmer added eight and
Jasmine Shedrick grabbed 10 rebounds in the loss.
"We have to learn to have a 'never quit' attitude for 40 minutes," said head coach
Lindsey Wilson. "We show it at times but good teams have an ability to keep that up for a full 40 minutes. When we learn how to do that, we'll be a good basketball team."
FPU trailed just 15-14 after the first quarter but the Warriors came out firing in the second, outscoring the Sunbirds 22-9. The Sunbirds chipped into the Stanislaus State lead early in the third, but the Warriors would close the game on a 12-5 run in the fourth.
FPU played well in spurts defensively, forcing 24 Warrior turnovers.
Hannah Ramirez and
Abrina Salas had three steals apiece.
Stanislaus State improved to 4-2 with the win while FPU dropped to 1-4.
The Sunbirds return home for an exhibition against Bethesda on Wednesday night.
