Sunbirds fall at first-place HPU to conclude Hawaii trip

HONOLULU - Fresno Pacific concluded its road trip in Hawaii with a 77-40 loss to the PacWest's top team, Hawaii Pacific. Morganne Comstock scored 30 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead the Sharks (13-2, 8-0 PacWest), who are undefeated on their home court this season.

The Sharks jumped out to a 15-2 lead and never looked back, dropping FPU to 2-10, 2-5 in PacWest play on the season.

Dakota McLarnan was the only Sunbird in double figures, finishing with 10 points. Jasmine Shedrick, Charde Stevens and Taylor Caspers added six points apiece. The team struggled from the field, shooting just 27 percent, including 1-of-10 from three-point range, and was out-rebounded 49-31.

FPU will get another shot at the Sharks next weekend, facing HPU on Saturday, January 17, in Fresno. The game has been designated as an "Orange Out" night and will feature the Mutts 'n Motion dog show at halftime of the women's game and a celebration ceremony to honor the 2014 national champion baseball team during halftime of the men's game.
