OAKLAND, Calif. - Joshua Banuelos homered, Michael Hostetler collected six hits and Drew Merlo and Eian Raeber dominated on the mound as Fresno Pacific completed a four-game sweep of Academy of Art. The Sunbirds (26-16, 14-10 PacWest) outscored the Urban Knights 33-8 over the four-game series as the last-place Urban Knights fell to 11-29, 6-18 in PacWest play.

"We did a really good job in all areas of the game this weekend," said head coach Oscar Hirschkorn. "We pitched well, we swung it well and we played really strong defense. It was great to see the way we played as a team. Our challenge is going to be keeping the focus that we showed this weekend."

Hostetler got the Sunbirds on the board in the fifth inning of game one, singling and coming around to score on a McKay France grounder. Banuelos blasted a solo shot to left in the eighth and Baron Bower, who had five hits on the day, added an RBI double in the ninth. Merlo went 8 2/3 innings giving up just one run to earn the win while Michael Rodrigues got the save.

Raeber went six innings, striking out nine and giving up two earned in game two. The Sunbirds scored four runs in the first and never looked back, totaling 16 hits on the day on their way to a 10-3 win.

FPU is back in Oakland next weekend, taking on Holy Names for a four-game series beginning on Friday.
