Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

OAKLAND, Calif. - Fresno Pacific put 20 runs on the board and J.D. Salles and Wilson Ashford combined for 13 scoreless innings as FPU swept a doubleheader at Academy of Art on Friday night by scores of 16-4 and 4-0.

The Sunbirds (24-16, 12-10 PacWest) used a nine-run fifth inning to distance themselves in game one, building up a 16-0 lead in the sixth inning. Salles was dominant on the mound, taking a no-hitter into the sixth inning and finishing the day with six scoreless frames, just two hits allowed and eight strikeouts.

The FPU lineup showed great patience at the plate, drawing 13 walks in the first game while also capitalizing on seven ARTU errors. McKay France reached base all five times he came to the plate, finishing 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI and two walks. Baron Bower, Michael Tittle and Joshua Banuelos each provided multi-hit games as well with Bower, Tittle and John Koretoff adding two RBI each.

The Sunbirds also stole nine bases in the first game, including a career-high three by Banuelos and two from Hunter Villanueva. Anthony Cantu and Kellen Hackett worked scoreless innings out of the bullpen, while Jeff Bench saw his first action of the year.

In the second game, Koretoff blasted a two-run homer in the second inning and that would prove to be all the Sunbirds would need as Ashford was dialed-in on the mound, going the distance in the seven-inning nightcap and allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out ten. Banuelos added a two-RBI single in the third to make it 4-0, where the score would stay.

The last-place Urban Knights fell to 11-27, 6-16 in PacWest play. The two teams complete the four-game series with a doubleheader tomorrow at 2:00 pm.
