Offense in top form again as Sunbirds pick up fourth straight win

Jenna Thomason, Jerrica Babb and Tori Sena each found the back of the net as Fresno Pacific continued its recent hot streak with a 3-0 home victory over Academy of Art on Thursday night. The Sunbirds (4-5-1, 4-1-1 PacWest) picked up their fourth consecutive win with the victory.

Thomason got the scoring started for the Sunbirds in the 10th minute, gaining possession of the ball in the box with her back to the goal before firing a turnaround shot past the diving keeper. Babb added to the Sunbird lead in the 38th minute after Paige Jano placed a perfect through ball that split the defense and led to a one-on-one situation for Babb. The sophomore forward buried the shot, scoring her second goal in as many games.

Babb would be involved in the third goal as well finding Sena for the goal in the 60th minute. After a great play by Bianka Garcia in the midfield, Babb got the ball in the box before passing the ball back out to Sena, who fired a shot from deep into the corner of the net for her first collegiate goal.

"We just really started believing in ourselves, working together and being an encouragement to each other, and I think it's really starting to show on the field" said Sena of the team's recent turnaround. "We're a young team and it's been great to watch the younger players grow. I'm excited to see how we continue to develop as they gain more experience."

Caressa Archie and Amanda Hudec headed up a strong team defensive effort in front of goalkeepers Summer Hammond and Vanessa Escobar, who combined on the shutout in goal. Hammond finished with four saves.

The Sunbirds out-shot the Urban Knights 19-9 in the win, dropping ARTU to 1-8-1, 1-3 in the PacWest, on the season.

FPU heads to the Bay Area this weekend to face Dominican as the Sunbirds continue PacWest play.
