Fresno Pacific moved to 4-1 on the season as they cruised to a 9-0 win over Chaminade on day three of the Grand Canyon Invitational.
The Sunbirds started the route with a trifecta of big wins in double competition. The doubles pairing of Marie Boura and Petra Jurova, which is fast proving to be one of the best in the conference, sailed to an 8-0 win over the doubles pair of Kimberly Takara and Jan Matsumoto. The pair is now 4-1 on the season and has lost since a loss to Pacific in the season opener.
Anna Mikhaylova and Nicole Simoni also earned a shutout win at the No. 2 doubles spot with a 8-0 win over Katherine Guerrero and Shayla Hosaka.
Singles play was just as smooth for the Sunbirds who took all six matches in straight sets. No. 12 Boura scored a 6-1, 6-2 win at the No. 1 singles spot over Matsumoto.
No. 22 Erika Januskova rebounded after a loss on Friday with a straight set 6-1, 6-3 victory over Takara at No. 2 singles. Mikhaylova shutout Isel Barba at No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-0 that sealed the win. Erin Carlson earned a win in the toughest match of the day with a 6-4, 6-3 straight set win over Hosaka.
Fresno Pacific will close out their Grand Canyon Invitational tomorrow with a showdown against the host and No. 10 team in the country Grand Canyon at 11 am.
