Charde Stevens scores career-high 26 in loss to CSUEB

Box Score Despite a career-high 26 from Charde Stevens the Sunbirds were unable to overcome Cal State East Bay in a 76-60 loss. The Pioneers had five players in double figures.

"I am proud of how hard we played. We did a lot of great things tonight," said head coach Lindsey Wilson. "We are making progress and getting better everyday."

The Sunbirds got two players in double digits for the second time this season as Breana Buczek chipped in 10 to go along with Stevens' 26. Her previous high was 19 against Northwest Nazarene last season. The pair also finished with seven rebounds each to lead all players. Jenay Herring and Jazmine Simpson each added five assists as the Sunbirds finished with a season-high 21 assists.

"Charde was great today. She has great upside for us, and we are very excited for her," said Wilson. "She was missing shots early this season and we all she needed was to get her confidence back."

Fresno Pacific shot 50-percent from the field for the first time since January 14, 2012, the Sunbirds hit 56.6-percent of their shots in a 75-73 win over San Diego Christian. Stevens hit 12-14 shots to lead all players in field goal percentage hitting over 85-percent of her shots.

FPU jumped out to a quick 6-2 lead three minutes in before the Pioneers tied the game at the first media. The remainder of the half yo-yoed back and forth as both teams held five point advantages; CSUEB went into the break up 29-24.

Out of the half the Sunbirds cut the lead all the way down to one before CSUEB ballooned the lead out to 11.

The Sunbirds will be back in action for an exhibition with Bethesda on December 5 in the FPU Events Center at 5:00 p.m.
