Women's Soccer falters in final match of Hawaii road trip

Box Score

Laie, Hawaii - Fresno Pacific put up another great defensive performance, but the Sunbirds were limited to just five total shots in a 1-0 loss to BYU Hawaii; the finale of the team's four-game Hawaii road trip.

The Sunbird defense held up until the 86th minute when the Seasiders finally broke through with a goal by Sydnee Vidal, her first of the season, on an assist by Brittney Crump.

"We feel we were a bit unlucky to give up the game winning goal in final few minutes of the game after battling for 85 plus minutes," said head coach Erik Farfan. "It was not the way we wanted to end this long road trip but the reality is that it's very challenging to play four matches in eight days on these Hawaiian trips. That being said, we are very much looking forward to coming back to the mainland to play our next few games and will be determined to regroup and finish strong in conference play."

Sarah King had a strong game in goal, making four saves. Caressa Archie and Alyssa Nakaguchi led another strong defensive performance. Nakaguchi, Alyssa Pazzi and Kelly Nikkel each had a shot on goal.

FPU falls to 6-5-1, 4-3-1 in PacWest play. BYUH improves to 4-4-2, 3-3-1 in the PacWest.

The Sunbirds, who went 2-2 on the road trip, return home this Wednesday to take on NAIA nationally-ranked Cal State San Marcos.
