Warriors silence Sunbird bats

Box Score

Fresno Pacific was limited to just two hits in a 4-0 loss at Cal State Stanislaus on Tuesday, dropping the team's record to 21-19 on the season.

The NCAA Division II Warriors, who had lost to FPU 9-2 in Fresno earlier this season, got six innings of one-hit ball from starting pitcher Keith McDaniels to improve to 20-14 on the year.

FPU starter Wilson Ashford was effective in five innings, giving up two runs and striking out three, but it wouldn't matter as the Sunbird lineup couldn't generate any run support.

The Sunbirds loaded the bases, down 3-0, with two outs in the seventh after two walks and a Kevin Magill single. Michael Rivera was called out on strikes however to end the threat.

The Sunbirds dropped to 2-13 in road games this season.

FPU returns to conference play on Thursday, hosting Biola in a doubleheader beginning at 2 pm (the game originally scheduled for Friday was moved up to Thursday, resulting in the doubleheader).
