Glenn Lyon scored four goals to lead FPU past Riverside College in the opening game of the Lancer Invitational on Friday. Jake Finney was a major factor in the win, making 12 saves in goal.

In what seems to be an unwanted recurring theme, the Sunbirds lost by one goal to NCAA D3 #8 Whittier College. It was FPU's fourth loss by two goals or less this season.

The Sunbirds (5-12) missed a penalty shot in the last six seconds that would have sent the game into overtime and also couldn't convert on 6-on-5 opportunity in the final minute. Mateja Maksimovic led the team with five goals while Nick Fadden added four.

FPU plays NCAA D3 #10 Occidental and NCAA D1 #10 Concordia tomorrow to complete the tournament.
