NAIA Top 25 Women's Tennis Rankings (Released Today)
For the second time this season #1-ranked Fresno Pacific thumped #25 Westmont 9-0 in Santa Barbara. The Sunbirds bounced back from a tough week in Las Vegas that saw them drop three of four matches against NCAA Division II top competition.
The Sunbirds quickly went through the Westmont doubles teams giving them a 3-0 lead. Erika Januskova and Marie Boura won their match at number one doubles 8-4, as did Heidi Jackson and Erin Carlson at number three. Yumiko Justin and Elizabeth Mcfeeters were able to shutout their opponents 8-0.
All six singles matches went the Sunbirds' way without dropping a set. Boura saw off her opposition at number one 6-2, 6-2. Yumiko Justin maintained her impressive record for this season by notching up another win this time at number two by a score of 6-3 6-0.
With Januskova now fully recovered from injury she came through her match in impressive fashion winning 6-3 6-1 playing in the number three singles position. Jackson had the closest match of the day at number five, however she still came through convincingly 6-4 6-3 over Westmont's Sarah Chum.
The Sunbirds still maintain their unbeaten record in conference matches, extending it to 7-0 this season and 77-0 all-time.
The Sunbirds have a very important match over the weekend as they take on undefeated #3 Point Loma Nazarene this Saturday at home.
