Women's tennis imrpoves to 3-0 with sweep of Westmont

Fresno Pacific 9, Westmont 0.

The #1-ranked Sunbirds played their opening home match of the 2011 season against conference rivals #24 Westmont on Saturday. The Sunbirds had little trouble with the Warriors, coming away with a convincing 9-0 win.

After racing through the doubles by a score of 8-1 in every match there was no let-up as the Sunbirds continued on in similar fashion in singles play. Yumiko Justin and Elizabeth McFeeters won without dropping a single game in each of their matches.

Sara Celma played at the number one position for the Sunbirds and got her third win of the season in impressive fashion 6-1 6-3.

“I'm pleased with how the ladies performed today," said coach Neil Castro. "Although Westmont is not the toughest team we will face this year it's good to get a 9-0 win against anyone”.

TheSunbirds play again on the road at Point Loma Nazarene next Saturday. PLNU is ranked #3 nationally and certainly a contender in the GSAC with ITA-NAIA champion Kristin Strimple playing at number one singles.
