FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno Pacific (21-8, 13-8 GSAC) trailed going into the ninth inning 5-4, but managed to fight back to score two runs in their final inning to defeat Azusa Pacific (13-20, 6-15 GSAC) 6-5. The Sunbirds' two hits and two runs in their final inning included a walk-off single from Tyler Pryor to end the game.
Pryor led the Sunbirds with three hits and two RBIs. Matt Souza hit the tying double in the ninth inning finishing the day one-for-three with one RBI.
Andrew Douglas also had three hits for the Sunbirds with a RBI as well.
David Hawes pitched the majority of the game allowing nine hits and five runs with five strikeouts. However, Michael Jimenez got the win pitching the final 2.1 innings and allowing three hits and no runs.
The Sunbirds will play again tomorrow, Thursday, April 8 against Azusa Pacific in their second of four games and the two teams' final meeting in Fresno. The game will begin at 2 p.m.
