FRESNO, Calif. - No. 9 Fresno Pacific (19-7, 11-7 GSAC) fell in game-one 15-4 against No. 2 Point Loma Nazarene (21-8-1, 13-6 GSAC), but bounced back to take their final game against the Sea Lions 7-6. The Sunbirds finish their four-game series against Point Loma 1-3.
Michael Rivera was the star of the Sunbirds' victory as he was the difference maker on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Rivera received the win coming in to pitch the final inning allowing two hits and two runs but striking out three batters. However, with the game tied 6-6 after striking out three batters, Rivera came to the plate with two runners on base and hit the game-winning single to put the Sunbirds up 7-6.
Rivera hit two-for-four with four RBIs to lead the Sunbirds, and also led the Sunbirds in game-one with one hit and two RBIs.
Jared Coleman was also three-for-four in game-one with a solo homerun in the second inning, but wasn't enough as the Sunbirds allowed 5 runs in the fifth inning and 10 more runs in the seventh to put the game out of reach.
Tyler Pryor was strong in the second game hitting two-for-two and scoring the final run off of Rivera's single.
The Sunbirds will take a break from conference play to take on Sonoma State next Tuesday, March 30 in Rohnert Park. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
