FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno Pacific (17-2, 9-2 GSAC) took their first meeting against Cal Baptist (22-6, 11-2 GSAC), winning 4-3. The Sunbirds gave the Lancers their second conference loss of the season, making the GSAC standings even tighter.
Kelyn Schellenberg (7-0) went the distance again pitching all nine innings allowing eight hits and only one earned run.
The Sunbirds had a balanced offensive game with four batters with one RBI apiece.

Dwight Nixon and
Jeff Taylor each drove in a run for the Sunbirds.
In the GSAC standings, Cal Baptist, Vanguard and Fresno Pacific all have two conference losses at the top of the standings, but the Sunbirds remain in third with a 9-2 record. Cal Baptist leads with a 11-2 record followed by Vanguard with 10-2.
The Sunbirds return to the field Thursday, March 18 for their second meeting against the Lancers. The Sunbirds could jump Cal Baptist in the standing with another win. The game is scheduled for 2 p.m.
