FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno Pacific (3-0) continues to dominant their early season competition as they win their first of two meetings with Bethany University. The Sunbirds shut out Bethany 19-0, only allowing six hits to their 15 hits.
The Sunbirds also had 15 walks with their 15 hits and 17 RBIs.
Michael Rivera led the Sunbirds hitting three-for-five with two homeruns and six RBIs.
Matt Souza followed with five RBIs hitting two-for-three.
Alex Santacruz and
Karlan Andrews also had two RBIs apiece.
The Sunbirds scored six runs in the third inning to move ahead 9-0 early in the game. Again in the sixth inning, the Sunbirds scored six more runs to lead 15-0.
David Hawes pitched six innings allowing four of Bethany's six hits for the game. Hawes also had ten strikeouts. As a team, the Sunbirds had 15 strikeouts and zero walks for the game.
The Sunbirds will play Bethany again tomorrow on Saturday, February 13 where the Sunbirds will look to improve to 4-0 for the start of their season. Their game will begin at 11 a.m.
