Sunbirds rally to beat Biola

Sunbirds hit four homeruns in win 15-12

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Fresno Pacific (33-16) let Biola (33-21) jump out to a big lead, but Sunbirds came back with four homeruns in two innings, including a three-run shot from Tyler Pryor in the seventh to put the Sunbirds up 13-12.  The Sunbirds won 15-12.

 

Pryor had a huge day with nine RBIs and hitting four-for-four.  Pryor had two homeruns, a grand slam in the third inning and the lead-taking homer in the seventh.  Pryor also had two RBIs from a single in the second inning.

 

Justin Keeney followed with two solo homeruns of his own, hitting three-for-five with two RBIs.  One of Keeney's homers came back-to-back-to-back with Pryor's three-run homer and Case Rigby's solo homerun to put the Sunbirds up by the final score of 15-12.

 

Karlan Andrews, Alec Mehrten and Joey Norwood each had an RBI apiece as well in the Sunbirds comeback victory.

 

Pitching was difficult on both sides; Danny Mora pitched the first 2.2 innings and allowed nine hits and nine runs with six strikeouts.  #Daniel Brodie# earned the win for the Sunbirds pitching just over five innings and allowed six hits and three runs with four strikeouts.

 

Brian Oliver came in with two runners on base and one out in the ninth, and allowed a hit to load the bases.  Oliver earned his 12th save of the season striking out his final two batters, leaving all three Eagles on base to end the game.

 

The Sunbirds will take on No. 3 Point Loma Nazarene tomorrow, Wednesday, May 6.  The first pitch is scheduled for 12:00 noon.
