FRESNO, Calif. – Box Score - Fresno Pacific (20-9, 14-8 GSAC) had everything flowing in their win against Westmont (9-223, 6-16 GSAC). Two homeruns were only a part of the Sunbirds offense, and the bullpen kept the Warriors scoreless and hitless in the final four innings.
Case Rigby contributed three RBIs with his homerun in the Sunbirds' 11-2 win, while Tyler Pryor also led the Sunbirds with three RBIs with a triple in the seventh inning. Josh Jackson also had a two-run homerun for his two RBIs on the day. All three big hits were the only hits for each of the Sunbirds; Joey Norwood was the only Sunbird with multiple hits, hitting two-for-three with one run.
Similar to their match-up in Santa Barbara, the Warriors had a strong second inning, but Daniel Brodie held them to only four more hits and no runs in his remaining three innings. Brodie got the win allowing nine hits and two runs total in five innings. Sean Cunningham, Jordan Keener and Derek Barham came in for the rest of the game and kept the Warriors quiet with no hits and no runs. All four pitchers had two strikeouts apiece.
After the second inning, the score was tied 2-2, but the Sunbirds quickly opened the lead after the third inning 4-2. The Sunbirds never looked back after the third scoring seven more runs before the end of the ninth.
The Sunbirds will play again on Saturday, March 28 to take on Vanguard in a doubleheader. The first game is scheduled to begin 12:00 noon.
