RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Fresno Pacific (3-0, 1-0 GSAC) snuck by with a sacrifice fly in the ninth inning to defeat Cal Baptist (6-1, 0-1 GSAC) 5-4.  The scheduled doubleheader went through a lot with a postponement Saturday, a rain delay in the fourth inning and a suspended game two to end the day.  The Sunbirds still managed the victory in their GSAC opener.

Pitching down the stretch locked in the win for the Sunbirds.  Daniel Brodie received the win pitching three scoreless innings as relief in the fifth inning.  Brian Oliver got the save, coming in the ninth inning to guarantee the victory with three strikeouts in a row.

The Sunbirds took an early lead as Justin Keeney hit a two-run homer in the first.  The Lancers came back in the fourth after the rain delay with a grand slam to take a 4-2 lead over the Sunbirds.  Anthony Lowell and Joey Norwood both scored in the sixth inning on a Norwood single and a Karlan Andrews sacrifice fly, respectively.

With the game tied, 4-4, in the ninth Andrews was hit with a pitch.  Andrews advanced to second on a wild pitch and then moved to third on Tyler Pryor's groundout.  Josh Jackson then delivered the game-winning sacrifice fly.

The second game of the doubleheader was suspended after the top of the fourth with the Sunbirds trailing 4-10. No completion date has been determined.

The Sunbirds will return home on Wednesday, February 11 to take on Westmont.  The game is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.
