Sunbirds Downed by Biola 51-72

La Mirada, CA.- The Fresno Pacific women's basketball team dropped an away game tonight against #19 Biola University. The Sunbirds struggled keeping up with the nationally ranked Eagles eventually falling 51-72.

FPU was led by sophomore guard Michele Rebozzi who scored a team high 17 points on the night. Rebozzi was the only Sunbird to score in double digits and went 5-11 from the field, 5-8 from three point range, and 2-2 from the free-throw line.

Sunbird senior guard Samantha Cardeno also contributed nine points along with sophomore forward Jessica Torrecillas who put up eight.

The Sunbirds had difficulty finding a rhythm early on which Biola took full advantage of. Fresno Pacific shot 39% (10-26) from the field and just 11% (1-9) from three-point range during the first half of play which ended with FPU trailing 22-41. At that point, the orange and blue were never able to fully get back into the game.
FPU's percentages did improve in the second half, but the damage had been done and the Eagles were able to go on to win by 21 points.

With the loss, the Sunbirds drop to 5-7 in the GSAC and are 9-10 overall. Fresno Pacific will look to get back on the right track this weekend when they host Point Loma Nazarene Saturday, February 7th in FPU's Special Event Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:30PM.
