FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno Pacific (2-0) opened their season with a doubleheader against Academy of Art, and took both games convincingly, 8-1 and 7-0.

David Hawes and Danny Mora both got wins, where both pitchers allowed only one hit apiece and no runs in five innings apiece.  Mora, with the help of Kelyn Shellenberg and Brian Oliver, shutout the Academy of Art in the second game.  Academy of Art scored their only run in the final inning of the first game.

Joey Norwood led the Sunbirds with two RBIs in the first game, which came with a double in the first inning putting the Sunbirds up 3-0 early in the game.  Norwood finished with one hit, one run and two RBIs.  #Anthony Lowell# contributed with two hits, three runs and three stolen bases.

Joe Halderman led the way in the second game with a three-run homerun in the fourth to open up their lead and close the door on the Academy of Art.  Halderman ended with one hit, one run and three RBIs.  #Alex Mehrten#, Justin Keeney, and Oliver each had an RBI as well to help the Sunbirds win 7-0.

The season opening victory will carry over to the weekend's doubleheader in Riverside.  Fresno Pacific will take on GSAC competitor Cal Baptist on Saturday, February 7 beginning at 11:00 a.m.
