Sherr sisters net one goal apiece

San Francisco, Calif- Earlier this afternoon the Sunbirds traveled up North to take on the Academy Art in quest for their second win. With their backs against the on more then one occasion, the Sunbirds managed two comebacks as the game ended in a 2-2 tie.

 

Sister's Ashley and Amanda Sherr each scored a goal to lead the Sunbirds.

 

It didn't take long for things to get underway as the Urban Nights struck first with a goal in the 9th minute.

 

With only six minutes elapsed since the go ahead goal, Amanda Sherr netted her first goal of the year to knot the game at 1-1 apiece. Unfortunately the momentum would swing back in favor of the Urban Knights with a late first half goal to put them ahead 2-1 at the break.

 

The Sunbirds conducted their second comeback of the day when senior Julie Ramirez placed the ball at the feet of Ashley Sherr, which allowed her to find the back of the goal in the 67th minuet to tie the game at 2-2.

 

“Today wasn't our best performance,” stated head coach Erik Farfan. “But I am very encouraged that we were able to get back in the game and never showed signs of giving up.”

 

With the tie the Sunbirds record falls to 1-0-1. They will be back in action next Wednesday September 10th, as they play host to Menlo. Kickoff time is scheduled for a 7:00 pm start.
