Fresno, Calif.- The Sunbirds needed a rally this evening and that's what they got as they rallied to a – win over Holy Names here at Ramirez Field. Three different Sunbirds netted a goal in the team oriented win.
Holy Names scored the first goal of the game at the 28:27 mark to break the ice. The Sunbirds' Tori Alvarez answered with a goal at the 33:42 mark and which ignited the offensive attack. Julie Ramirez's across found the feet of Alvarez, which in turn set her up for an easy goal.
Before the conclusion of the first half, the Sunbirds took control of the scoreboard as Ashley Sherr scored an unassisted goal. The goal gave the Sunbirds a 2-1 lead at the break.
The Sunbirds defense would hold strong in second half play. Goal keeper Justine Caladera finished with seven saves on the night as she anchored the scoreless second half.
Junior Samantha Hearnes put the nail in the coffin with the games final goal. Jessica Pereschica was responsible for the assist.
Next up for the Sunbirds will be Dominican College. They will travel up North to take on the Penguins on Wednesday, September 17th. Kickoff is scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. start.
