FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno Pacific (1-0) opened their season with a win over Holy Names 75-64. The Sunbirds outscored Holy Names in both halves, while Holy Names only stayed close due to their 8 three-point shots they hit throughout the game.
Fresno Pacific shot 55 percent from the field, while Holy Names only hit 36 percent of their shots. Holy Names scored half of their first half points from the three-point line, going 5-8, but it wasn't enough to keep up with the Sunbirds.
The Sunbirds were led in scoring by Jessica Torrecillas with 17 and Melissa Flores with 14. MacKenzie Butler led rebounds with 7 boards. Defensively, the Sunbirds had 10 steals, 3 of which came from Shirin Turujman, over Holy Names 3 steals on the night.
